The reasons for the high vibration of the grinding machine’s fan and the corresponding solutions

During the operation of the grinding machine, the fan is a crucial component that performs key tasks such as material transportation and system ventilation. However, when the fan experiences excessive vibration, it not only affects the working efficiency of the grinding machine but also may cause equipment damage and even lead to safety incidents. Understanding the reasons for the excessive vibration of the fan and taking effective solutions are essential for ensuring the stable operation of the grinding machine.

One common cause of high fan vibration is unbalanced impellers. During long-term operation, the impeller may become unbalanced due to factors such as wear, corrosion, and accumulation of dust. For example, if the surface of the impeller’s blades is covered with a large amount of material dust, the originally balanced impeller will lose its balance and generate centrifugal force when rotating at high speed, thereby causing severe vibration. To address this issue, the solution is to regularly clean the impeller to remove the accumulated dust and attachments on the surface; if the impeller is severely worn or corroded, it needs to be repaired or replaced, and a dynamic balance test should be conducted before installation to ensure the balance accuracy of the impeller.

The damage to the fan bearings is also a significant factor contributing to the high vibration. The bearings bear a huge load during the operation of the fan. Long-term friction and wear will cause the precision of the bearings to decrease and the clearance to increase. When there are fatigue pitting, broken balls, etc. on the bearings, abnormal vibration will occur during the operation of the fan. At this time, it is necessary to inspect the bearings promptly. If the bearings are found to be damaged, new bearings should be replaced immediately. When replacing the bearings, it is necessary to choose the appropriate model and accuracy grade, and install them correctly to ensure the mating accuracy between the bearings, the shaft and the bearing housing.

Furthermore, an unstable foundation or improper installation of the fan can also cause vibration. If the concrete pouring quality of the fan foundation is poor, with problems such as looseness and cracking, or if the fan is not installed by the installation specifications, resulting in an inadequate connection between the fan and the foundation, the fan will vibrate during operation. To solve such problems, it is necessary to inspect and reinforce the fan foundation, repair the loose and cracked areas, and, when reinstalling the fan, ensure that it is installed horizontally, the anchor bolts are firmly tightened, and a good connection between the fan and the foundation.

The operating parameters of the fan are abnormal, such as excessive rotational speed and excessive air volume, which can also cause significant vibration. When the fan operates beyond the rated parameters, the internal airflow state will change, generating unstable aerodynamic forces, thereby triggering vibration. Therefore, when using the grinding mill fan, it is necessary to operate strictly by the equipment’s operating procedures and rated parameters to avoid overloading the fan. If any abnormal operating parameters are detected, they should be adjusted promptly to restore the fan to its normal operating state.
