What is raymond mill?

Raymond Mill is a classic suspension roller ring roller grinding mill, invented by the American C.E. Raymond in 1906. Its Chinese transliteration is “Lei Meng”. It grinds ores/rocks into fine powder through centrifugal crushing, wind classification and negative pressure circulation, and is the main equipment for grinding non-metallic ores.

What are the main uses of a Raymond mill?

Raymond mill is widely used in the grinding and processing of various ores. Its main processing materials include non-metallic ores such as carbon black, calcite, limestone, talc, pyrophyllite, diabase, calcium carbonate, marble, quartz stone, soapstone, diatomite, and bentonite. Its processing fineness is adjustable from 40 to 400 mesh. Featuring low cost, high output, and stable operation, the machine is an indispensable key piece of equipment for mining enterprises.

The ultra-fine grinding mill is specially developed to meet higher processing requirements for ultra-fine powder production. It shares the same application scope as the Raymond mill, both used for processing mineral micro-powders.

The main difference lies in its higher finished powder fineness, which can be freely adjusted within the range of 300 to 3000 mesh. Mineral powder processed by this ultra-fine mill has a wider range of applications and serves as an important raw material for industrial paints, chemical materials, plastic fillers, high-end coatings and other industries.

The grinding ring is used in both Raymond mills and ultra-fine grinding mills. As for Raymond mills, there are various types of grinding rings available. Some manufacturers produce trapezoidal grinding rings, some make grinding rings with an inclined angle, while most manufacturers adopt standard circular ring designs.

Therefore, in China, many manufacturers refer to Raymond mills by various names, such as trapezoidal grinding mills, longitudinal swing grinding mills, high-pressure grinding mills and so on. Essentially, all of them are modified versions of the Raymond mill.

However, different manufacturers have different intentions. Some aim to gain online traffic and attract attention, some want to create an exclusive product name of their own, and others simply seek to create marketing gimmicks.

What materials are available for grinding rollers and grinding rings?

There are generally three common materials for grinding rollers and grinding rings used in ultra-fine mills and Raymond mills:

42CrMo
GCr18Mo
GCr15SiMn

We recommend the adoption of 42CrMo material. This grade has been fully verified by a large number of customers and is widely recognized in the industry. When processing materials such as marble, limestone and calcite, grinding rollers and rings made of 42CrMo achieve a significantly longer service life.
